Annual Street Tree Planning Meeting

On November 6th, Old City Green participated in our annual street tree planning meeting with Old City District and arborists from the Department of Parks & Recreation (PPR).

Using data compiled by Old City Green we work with Old City District and PPR to set street tree service and planting priorities for Old City.

During our annual meeting we discuss dead tree removals, stump grinding, and vacant tree pits available to plant. We advocate for PPR to remove any standing dead trees, clearing the way for new tree planting. Replacement tree plantings may be done by PPR, or Old City Green / Old City District in partnership, or PHS Tree Tenders, etc. Whatever method works best given the specific opportunity and available resources.

Old City Green and Old City District have been organizing this annual street tree meeting for the past eight years and believe it has helped ensure that PPR is aware of our community’s tree-related needs and planting opportunities.
